March 20 news, according to foreign media reports, Cisco yesterday announced that the company has completed the acquisition of the private company Lightwire trading.
It is reported that Lightwire is headquartered in Allentown, Pennsylvania and develops fiber optic interconnection technologies for high-speed networking applications. The acquisition of Lightwire will enable Cisco to develop and introduce more cost-effective high-speed networks using next-generation fiber interconnect technologies to help service providers and data center customers meet the growing demand for video, data, voice, mobile, and cloud services.
After completing this acquisition, Lightwire's employees will be integrated into Cisco's Transceiver Modules Business Unit and Supply Chain Operations Group. Under the acquisition agreement, Cisco paid approximately $271 million in cash for the purchase of all of Lightwire's shares.
