——The application and development of LED technology at the World Expo

Every night at the beginning of the Hua Deng, the Expo Park is full of radiance and radiance, and the lighting brings a visual feast to the visitors.

At 19:40, a light show prepared by the French Roa Regional Pavilion in the Urban Best Practices Area for visitors to the World Expo will be staged in the City Square. The lighting gradually dimmed, and the 33-inch tulip lights around the square were transformed into various colors, guiding the light show to appear on the 150-meter façade of the city's future pavilion facing the square and the “harmony tower” on the pavilion.

Li Hui, Chairman of the Enterprise Development Association of Roa and the Director of the Expo Project of the French Association of French-Chinese Enterprises, Li Hui, said in an interview with this reporter that in addition to this light show, the functional lighting and public of the entire city's best practice area Lighting, the walls of some venues and architectural lighting are also the lighting projects that the Roa area brings to the Expo.

Li Hui said that these lighting applications use LED (light-emitting diodes, a semiconductor device that converts electrical energy into visible light) illumination technology, which is not dazzling under the premise of sufficient illumination, prevents light pollution, and also avoids direct exposure to tourists. s eyes. In addition, its energy-saving effect is very obvious, the annual energy consumption per square meter is estimated to be about 80 kilowatts, and the general lighting needs to consume more than 200 kilowatts, achieving a substantial energy-saving effect.

Hong Hao, director of the Shanghai World Expo Bureau, said that in fact, visitors can enjoy the visual feast of LED lighting technology in the entire Expo Park, whether in the dazzling Chinese pavilion or in the beautiful “Expo axis”. .

Perhaps everyone can remember that at the beginning of the performance of the opening ceremony of the Expo, the LED giant screen on the Huangpu River showed in Chinese and English that “there are friends coming from afar, is it fun?” Then, the big screen matches the music and changes all kinds of things. Patterns and colors, national flags, magpies, white pigeons... It is understood that this LED giant screen has a total area of more than 7,000 square meters and is currently the largest TV screen in the world.

In the night Expo Park, walking on the road, there are even beautiful fireflies flying in front of your eyes. It turns out that LED lighting can also create beautiful effects that light sources can't match.

It is understood that in the context of low-carbon energy-saving and environmental protection, this year's World Expo will no longer use traditional incandescent lamps, but a large number of energy-saving and environmentally-friendly lamps such as LEDs. According to statistics, there are 150,000 energy-saving and environment-friendly LED lamps in the Expo Park, which light up the various venues and streets in the park. About 80% of the lighting sources in the museum use LED green light sources, which is equivalent to about 90% of ordinary incandescent lamps.

The China Pavilion is one of the core buildings of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. In order to show the main color of the China Pavilion "Forbidden City Red" at night, the organizers used more than 23,000 LED lamps, and it took 6 months for the light to dim the LEDs. The staff of the China Pavilion told the reporter that the LED lights of the China Pavilion can save more than 70% compared to the traditional floodlighting method. At the same time, due to the long service life of 50,000 hours, the replacement cost of the bulb is greatly reduced.

Our reporter learned in the interview that the main body of the Expo lighting uses LEDs called “21st Century Green Light Sources”, which is the first large-scale use of LED lighting equipment in urban blocks. In the past two years, LED has become the star of China's lighting industry. According to the data provided by National Semiconductor Lighting Engineering R&D and Industry Alliance, the growth rate of semiconductor lighting products in 2009 is much higher than the average growth level of China's lighting industry. Its industrial sales value reached 60 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of more than 30%.

The reason why LED lighting is developing so rapidly in China is inseparable from the support of our government. At the beginning of 2009, the pilot projects of “Ten Cities and Ten Thousand Cities” in 21 cities nationwide were launched. At the end of 2009, the six ministries and commissions including the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development jointly issued a notice on the development of semiconductor lighting energy-saving industries. With the support of a series of policies, the LED lighting industry has gradually developed in China.

According to statistics, the current share of landscape lighting in China's LED application market is the largest. With the construction of large-scale international projects such as the Olympic Games and the World Expo, LEDs shine in them, and their beautiful visual effects have left a deep impression on them, which has greatly promoted the application of LEDs in landscape lighting. .

Relevant experts said that after the World Expo, whether it is a tourist attraction, or a large-scale construction, shopping malls and hotels, the use of LEDs to replace traditional lighting fixtures will become the trend of the times. Our reporter learned from the National Development and Reform Commission's Department of Environmental Protection that the state will continue to vigorously promote LED lighting equipment and gradually eliminate the production and use of traditional incandescent lamps.
