Advrty, a Swedish advertising technology company, recently won a seed round of 5 million Swedish kronor (about US$570,000). The company will use this money to develop an advertising platform for VR, AR games and applications. Investors consist of angel investors from Sweden, Finland and Singapore. The news has been officially confirmed.
The history of Advrty started last summer and they later participated in the 2016 SLUSH conference. SLUSH is an entrepreneurial conference organized by entrepreneurs, investors and other non-profit group organizations. It is held once a year. At last year's meeting, there were 17,500 participants, 2,300 entrepreneurial teams, and 1,100 investors. Advrty was named SLUSH's top 100 entrepreneurial team in the year and was selected as the SLUSH Seedcamp for direct investment opportunities.
VR's advertising opportunity looks simple: it has a larger display area than any screen. But creating ads that people don't hate requires rethinking how ads are displayed. Niklas Bakos, CEO of Advrty, stated that they are applying for a patent for an algorithm. Advertising is not only based on the user's field of vision, but there are more ways to adjust.
As for the AR's actions, the CEO stated that they are negotiating with Microsoft and Magic Leap to display ads that also rely on AI algorithms.
