Simon Benson, director of the Sony Immersive Technology Group, said PSVR has received positive market acceptance so far, and they plan to increase equipment production:

Very positive. We were very optimistic about introducing virtual reality to players at the time, but it was only when you launched the market that you could determine it.

Creating a new gaming experience that requires wearing devices on the head is challenging. When you see such wonderful user feedback, we know that we are doing quite well.

It is still at a very early stage, but we feel good about the demand for VR games, so we plan to increase (PSVR) production. This is a very positive signal for the future of VR games. I am looking forward to more people who can get our PlayStation VR heads up and step into this new world.

In February of this year, Sony announced that PSVR's global sales have reached 915,000 units. At that time, Andrew House, chairman of Sony Entertainment, said that "more than 220 software and content are under development," "developers and publishers." The number has exceeded 360". Sony expects more than 100 new content will be available before the end of 2017.

Benson said in an interview with MCV that PSVR should attract more developers and there should not be any problems:

To be honest, many VR developers are in contact with us. We don't think it is a problem to attract more developers to develop VR content. In the first few months of the PSVR launch, there were already about 100 VR games and experiences in the store, and there was more content in the development process.

Benson also stated that he personally hopes that more PSVR games can integrate social elements so that remote games with friends "will be more like local multiplayer games." He later added: "If people think that PSVR games are already great, then I think that by the time the experience comes online they will be even more surprised. I believe social elements will provide tremendous value for VR games."

Earlier this month, Sony stated that the PSVRs in the United States and Canada have been replenished to prepare for the launch of Farpoint on May 16.
