In US commercial and industrial buildings, more than 100 million emergency exit signs are used every day. Before the mid-1980s, most of these signs were usually made using incandescent lamps and required power from 24W to 40W. After the mid-1980s, in the trend of energy saving, increased reliability and visibility, manufacturers began to use small fluorescent lamps and light-emitting diodes to create emergency exit signs. These light sources have strong visibility, but all energy is only traditional. The emergency exit sign is between 10% and 20%. In order to distinguish high-quality energy-efficient products, the Energy Star (ENGRGY STAR) logo program was established in 1996. In 1999, 15% of emergency exit signs still used incandescent lamps, while 85% of emergency exit signs used LEDs. The automation industry's use of brighter LEDs provides an opportunity for emergency exit sign manufacturers to use fewer brighter LEDs.
