G-Wearables claims to be one of the first companies to create large-scale space laser positioning technology that delivers high accuracy and low latency while eliminating occlusion problems.
According to the company, the StepVR laser positioning system allows for delays of less than 2ms and positioning accuracy of up to 1mm. For the user, this low latency means better performance in a VR environment, while high positioning accuracy means no immersion recalibration is required.
Furthermore, the use of laser-based systems means that occlusion is no longer an issue. Blocking usually occurs in the current virtual assembly, the optical positioning sensor can no longer direct line of sight tracking, for example, when the PlayStaTIon VR camera can no longer see the glowing ball on the PlayStaTIon Move controller, because a player has turned away from or removed from the range. .
The StepVR system can be assigned to allow each tracking object to act as its own node, so there is no limit to the number of location devices that can be added, as each device can check itself with other devices on the network. Laser-based systems are also resistant to interference from natural light or other powerful sources, known as interference optical tracking systems.
The company also claims that the StepVR system does not require any additional adjustments and recalibrations after initial installation and commissioning, for single-player environments or large VR arenas. StepVR also provides open source SDK resources for Unity 3D, Cocos 3D, Unreal Engine 4 and Cry Engine 3.
