According to BusinessKorea and Aju Business Daily, LG Innotek, a component manufacturer of LG Group, launched the second generation of "V2X" modules (see photo) on August 31 for self-driving and connected cars. V2X is the abbreviation of "Vehicle To Everything", which allows road conditions and traffic information to be shared between vehicles, between vehicles and infrastructure, between vehicles and pedestrians.
The second-generation V2X consists of three core components, namely the HCI module, the hardware security module (HSM), the processor (AP), etc., which control the communication protocol. The new module is more durable than the first generation. And the size is more mini, about 1/3 of the credit card.
With the integrated communication module, the depot and parts factory do not need to separately install and test various parts, which is more convenient to use, and can also improve the communication performance, safety and reliability of the connected car. LG claims that the new module can withstand high temperatures and can be used normally in an environment of 105 degrees Celsius, and even if the car is traveling at speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour, it can still send and receive messages within one kilometer.

LG Electronics Inc. plans to spend $1.2 billion (equivalent to about RMB 7.84 billion) with its parent company LG Corp to acquire the Austrian automotive lighting company ZKW Group. The Korea Economic Daily pointed out that LG Electronics, which wants to cut into the automotive electronics market, has spent more than 1.5 years preparing for this acquisition.
