Recently, Ace Hardware, the largest hardware retailer in the United States, announced the recall of approximately 15,000 ACE Clamp-On LED work lights due to the safety hazard of electric shock and fire. The luminaire was produced in Indonesia and imported by Ace Hardware to Illinois.

The recalled product model is "DC004" and the date code located on the base of the fixture is "08/13". The company has not received an accident report yet.

Ace Hardware's senior staff said that there may be quality problems in the protective sleeve inside the LED light base, so that the power cord of the base is pulled out, and the exposed wires can cause the above safety hazard. Ace Hardware advises consumers to stop using the product and return the fixture to the local Ace Hardwar store for a full refund.


The product was available in Ace Hardware's physical stores and online stores from September to December 2013, as well as from other US hardware stores, ranging in price from $10 to $22.
