As part of the WebXR Week in San Francisco, Microsoft and Samsung teamed up to launch a 48-hour WebXR hackathon challenge. The event calls on those interested in developing immersive web applications for virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) or mixed reality (MR) to use the web to build amazing experiences.

The event will allow developers, designers and artists to enter the Microsoft Reactor Studio and enjoy the intensive WebXR fun throughout the weekend.

WebXR hackathon challenge based on immersive web applications

Hackathon provides people with the opportunity to expand the possibilities of web technology. It is a creative space that allows the use of WebXR and immersive technology to experiment and create new ideas. The event will have many categories for participants to choose and deal with, including education/training, medical care, social welfare, games/entertainment, etc.

Within 48 hours, attendees will have the opportunity to communicate with each other, and then directly join the team to develop their ideas for the hackathon. Lunch and dinner are arranged on the weekend, and they will also conduct a round of demonstrations and judgments to find the winning teams in each category and their creations within 48 hours.

The WebXR Hackathon Challenge is sponsored by major companies such as Microsoft, Samsung and Mozillia. As part of the WebXR San Francisco Week, many different events have started, providing opportunities for developers, designers, entrepreneurs, companies and community organizers to gather together and host a series of events to celebrate WebXR and immersive technology .

In May of this year, Google announced that developers will be able to use the WebXR API in Chrome because the company makes it a standard part of its popular web browser, enabling millions of users to enjoy immersive content.
