A cloud computing platform is a hardware-based service that provides computing, networking, and storage capabilities. Users automate the provisioning through a role-based web portal. Users fill out a form on the portal to define their hardware platform, CPU, memory, storage, operating system, middleware and team members and their associated roles. The entire process takes about 5 minutes. Once the request is submitted through the portal, the data center administrator is notified and logged in to approve, modify, and/or reject the request. Once approved, the system launches a defined automated workflow to complete the deployment. The fully automated supply process meets security requirements, reduces errors caused by human causes, and greatly reduces system deployment time.

Booking and scheduling

When submitting a service request, the user needs to know the time of the resource usage. Because the user needs to fill in the start and end time of the service when submitting the application, this makes it easy for data center managers to understand the resource usage. At the end of the service arrival time, the system will automatically reclaim the resources so that they can be used by other services that require resources. Of course, the user can change the end time of the service, which is one of the important functions of the management platform, which we will explain in the following sections.

Change management

In some projects, there may be some unknown factors related to development delays or new demands. These unknown factors sometimes make it difficult to comply with the contractual end date, which is especially noticeable when the end date is confirmed a few months before the project is postponed. Therefore, the system allows the user to request an extension of their original contract end date.

Authorized project members can log in to the platform portal and request an extension of the contract end date. The data center administrator evaluates the request in terms of both resource capabilities and business rationality. Administrators can log in to the web interface to view the request and approve it. Once the new date is approved, the corresponding task will be performed and the contract will be updated to reflect the new end date.

Change contract

The cloud computing platform also provides the ability to change the service request resources. For high-risk projects that use new or untested technologies, it is often necessary to change the server's operating system, software, and other resources.

The contract change function of the cloud computing platform is very flexible, and users can add or remove software components in the original system or completely redeploy along with the operating system. Users can also add or remove servers from existing contracts, or choose to increase or decrease the amount of resources allocated to one or more virtual machines on a qualifying hardware system. When the change application is submitted, the change operation of the entire system is automatically performed. Without manual intervention, the system can complete the change request in a short period of time and provide it to the user.
