1. The parasitic capacitance of the ESD protection component itself must be less than 0.3pF, so as not to affect the transmission rate of USB3.0 up to 4.8Gbps.

2. The ESD tolerance of the protection component must be high enough to withstand at least the IEC 61000-4-2 contact mode 8kV ESD attack.

3. The protection component must provide a low clamping voltage during the ESD event, which may not cause errors or omissions in the transmission data, or even cause damage to the internal circuit of the system product.

4. The conduction resistance of the protection component must be low enough. In addition to reducing the clamping voltage, the biggest advantage is that the component can maintain a low clamping voltage when subjected to high-energy ESD attacks to avoid protection components. Not damaged, but the internal circuit of the system is not working properly or even damaged.

5. Use a single chip to solve the ESD protection requirements of all signal lines/power lines in the USB 3.0 port, especially when using the Micro USB interface, which will greatly reduce the complexity of the design layout.

The above five elements are required to be indispensable. If any item cannot be satisfied, the USB 3.0 port cannot be fully protected. However, the ESD protection components that meet the above five requirements are inherently difficult to design and require a design team with extensive experience and solid technology.
