The failure to charge the battery means that the battery is charged for a long time and the voltage rises slowly when the engine is working normally. The reasons are as follows:
1. Loose or corroded terminals in the charging line increase the resistance and decrease the current intensity.
2. The battery plate is vulcanized so that it has a layer of white aluminum sulfate grains with poor conductivity. After such coarse grains block the pores of the plate, the electrolyte will be difficult to penetrate, resulting in an increase in internal resistance and the inability of current to pass through.
3. Due to the large current used to charge or discharge the battery, the specific gravity of the electrolyte is too large or the liquid level is not enough, etc., the battery plate is damaged. When diagnosing, first check whether each terminal is loose or corroded, and then judge whether the electrode plate is vulcanized according to the phenomenon during charging. If the temperature of the electrolyte rises quickly during charging, or if the charging time is not long, a large number of bubbles are generated in the electrolyte, but the voltage does not increase, and the specific gravity of the electrolyte does not increase significantly, indicating that the electrode plate has been vulcanized. When the vulcanization is not serious, you can pour out all the electrolyte, inject distilled water, and then charge for a long time with a small current of about 2 amps to dissolve the aluminum sulfate, but you should be careful not to increase the battery temperature. When the specific gravity of the electrolyte does not increase within a few hours, it indicates that the battery is fully charged before discharging.
After multiple charge and discharge cycles to restore the active material, if it is still not normal, it should be replaced with a new one.
