Philips LumiLEDs has released the new Luxeon 3535 2D medium power LED series, which reduces the number of LED beads required for luminaire design.

Lumileds said that a 50W PAR20 luminaire requires only four LED beads, while a 40WA19 bulb that originally required 14 LED horns now requires only six Luxeon 3535 LEDs.

In addition, the company also released the first low-power LED, the Luxeon 4014, for line-type lighting applications such as cabinet lights and trunking lights.

The new medium-power LED has a color temperature of 4000K, a driving current of 100mA and a luminous efficiency of 140lm/W, and a minimum luminous flux of 60lm. When driven by 200mA, the luminous flux is increased by 75% and the maximum luminous flux is up to 130lm. The series of LEDs offer a color temperature of 2700K to 6500K with a minimum color rendering index of 80, and the R9 parameters are all above zero.

The new low-power Luxeon 4014 LED achieves a luminous efficacy of 160 lm/W at 4000 K color temperature; 138 lm/W with a drive current of 30 mA and a minimum luminous flux of 10 lm. Currently, the series only offers 4000K color temperature with a minimum color index of 80.
